The river is the only continuous line. It is already sounding and it does not

stop. Your vertical position is distance from the water. 

Closer is not louder — closer is in sonic terms: denser: more saturated, harder to hear yourself inside of your body.

Duration is measured in distance walked, not in minutes.

There is no conductor and no timekeeper. 

Each of the seven holds exactly one cue, and the score passes between bodies rather than being counted.
